Assessment
A highly qualified assessor in the choral field will give each choir a written assessment of their performance.
The assessment is based on our successful system of GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE.
GOLD - awarded to groups who have achieved an advanced level of musical excellence.
SILVER - awarded to groups who have achieved a high level of musical excellence.
BRONZE - awarded to groups who have achieved an intermediate level of musical excellence.
Ensembles are competing against themselves and are challenged to achieve and maintain a high musical standard.
Each group is rewarded for their effort, which means there may be any number of gold, silver and bronze awards
in each section.
Sections
Choirs will present two contrasting songs of their own choice and are grouped in the following sections:
Junior Primary (Grades 1-4)
Senior Primary (Grades 5-7) Primary choirs (Grade 3-7) are classified as Senior Primary
Secondary
Showcase Primary
Showcase Secondary
Community/University
Each section is broken into clusters of four or five choirs with assessment and awards presented after a cluster’s performance. The advantage of this is that the students can hear other choirs perform, thus making this an educational experience. The maximum time for each cluster, including time for presentations, is 1 to 1.5 hours.
Performance Notes
Each choir has a strict duration of five minutes. The minimum number of performers is fifteen.
Showcase section allows for creativity, choreography, movement and costume.
Copies of music scores must be submitted upon arrival to the Coordinator.
The 2008 ACF was held on 26th July 2008. Dates and venue for 2009 will be advertised closer to the date.
